HANDHI THILA

 

North of Summer Island, located in the front of the Makunudu Channel, we find Handhi Thila. The nicest part of the thila lays in the south-east, but you can visit it only with the proper current conditions.

 

Starting the dive in blue water, the divers will let themselves drift with the current to front of the thila. As you reach the thila at the depth of approx. 25 meters, stay there as long as the current allows it. Patrolling grey & white tip reef sharks, tunas, and lots of jackfish (Handi) will keep you company during this dive.

 

A wonderful dive, still, depending on the current it can be quite demanding!

HANDHI THILA

 

Handhi Thila liegt nördlich von Summer Island im Makunudu-Kanal.

Auch dieser Tauchplatz wird durch ein Thila gebildet, das bis zwölf Meter unter die Wasseroberfläche reicht. Vorzugsweise ist sein Südostteil zu betauchen, was allerdings nur bei entsprechender Strömung möglich ist.
Der Abstieg beginnt im Blauwasser, dann lassen sich die Taucher mit der Strömung aufs Thila treiben. Das wird auf rund 25 Meter erreicht, wo sich die Gruppe eine zeitlang aufhält.


Oft sind patrouillierende Graue und Weißspitzen-Riffhaie, Thunfische und viele Schwärme von Makrelen (Handi) zu sehen. Das Riff ist sehr abwechslungsreich und zahlreiche Korallenblöcke bieten den Fischen Unterschlupf. Langusten versammeln sich in den Überhängen und Süßlippen und Blaustreifenschnapper sowie Füsiliere ziehen in Schwärmen umher.
Ein schöner, abwechslungsreicher Tauchgang, der jedoch durch die Strömungsverhältnisse vor Ort oft schwierig wird.
